JASMINE alysha

Biography

What do you get when you put melodic instruments to creative poetry? You get the sounds of Jasmine Alysha, an imaginative and talented poet, songwriter, singer, model, dancer and actress.

Originally from Philly, Jasmine Alysha grew up in Virginia Beach with her mother and older brother. Although she was shy and very timid, Jasmine was active in school, participating in track and the school step team. She began writing poetry in elementary school and later put poetry to music, finally coming out of her shell when it was confirmed by others that she really could sing.

To Jasmine, singing was more than just a pastime, it was a passion. She quit her job as a government contractor and focused on her career full-time as a songwriter, singer, and music entertainer. With a style similar to that of Jill Scott and Alicia Keys with a dash of Jhene Aiko, Jasmine makes relatable music that deals with real life situations, feelings and circumstances, though 90% of it is based on other’s experiences rather than her own.

Although she still puts music to poetry, she now favors hearing the beat to feel the words, preferring acoustic type beats filled with emotion, rather than singing acapella. Her first recorded songs “Hush” and “Fighting Intuition” were birthed after meeting and collaborating with music producer Mo of Sound Connection Music Group through a friend of his, a photographer with whom she previously worked.

She later wrote and recorded “Chill With You,” “Nick Nack,” and “Leave Me Alone.” She loves the energy and the vibe of performing and revels in every opportunity and learning experience the music industry provides.

“I like to feed off the energy of the crowd. I’m an energy type person and when I see people in the audience bobbing their heads or singing along, it makes me want to vibe more.”

Jasmine also appreciates a variety of music genres from R&B and Hip-Hop, to Country and Punk Rock. She is currently blending a new style of Contemporary R&B that combines Soul and Trap in one, making you “two-step and twerk at the same time.”

Her motto is to “have patience in what you love to do!” When she is not singing and performing, Jasmine spends time with her seven-year-old son who enjoys science and basketball and of course, his mom’s music, which makes her proud. She also enjoys cooking and creates homemade candles as a fun pastime.
